Outplacement

Outplacement: a fair exit and a good next move.

When you have to let people go, the way you handle it shapes your standing as an employer and the mood in the team that stays. Our outplacement gives the person who is leaving a structured three-month programme, run by consultants who recruit for a living, that supports them on the way to their next role. On request we also coordinate the formalities with the RAV, the regional employment centre where people in Switzerland register for unemployment benefits, and with the unemployment insurance fund. The fee is CHF 3'500 per person, with a team package from CHF 25'000.

Scope

Scope.

An honest look at where the person stands: strengths, experience and a clear, realistic career goal

A complete application: CV, covering letter and supporting documents reworked for the Swiss market

A LinkedIn profile created or polished so the person is easy to find in the market

Interview coaching: preparing for interviews, practising them and going into salary talks with confidence

Coordination with the RAV, the regional employment centre, and the unemployment insurance fund: registration, the duties that come with claiming benefits, and preparation for the regular review meetings at the centre

One named contact and steady support throughout the search

How it works

What to expect.

  1. First meeting: together we establish where the person stands, what they are good at and where they want to go
  2. Documents and profile: we get the CV, the covering letter and the LinkedIn profile ready for the market
  3. Strategy and training: we agree the search strategy and practise interviews
  4. Active search: the person puts the strategy to work and writes the applications, while we keep the pace up week by week and prepare RAV appointments on request
  5. Offer and start: we prepare the person for the salary negotiation and the first weeks in the new role

Who it is for: For companies that have to let employees go and want to support them properly on the way out.

Outcome

What changes for you.

The person comes away with a clear plan, the confidence to present themselves well and practical support, which in most cases noticeably shortens the search for the next role. For you as the employer, the parting stays respectful, the risk of conflict drops and your reputation stays intact. We stay close to the process from the first meeting to the last. The result depends on the person and on the market, which is why we make no promise of a new job.

Format: one-to-one coaching, with group workshops added in the team package. Online or on site. Scope: 20 hours over three months, including preparation, follow-up and travel. Fixed fee: CHF 3'500 per person, team package from CHF 25'000 for up to ten people.

Frequently asked questions

Outplacement in brief.

What does outplacement cost at clever hr?

CHF 3'500 per person for 20 hours of support spread over three months, including preparation, follow-up and travel. For larger restructuring programmes there is a team package from CHF 25'000 for up to ten people. We fix the scope and confirm it in writing before we begin, so you know the full cost from the start.

Does Swiss law oblige us to offer outplacement?

Outplacement is voluntary under Swiss law. Employers pay for it because a decent exit keeps the trust of the people who stay. Two duties do apply once a redundancy programme reaches a certain size: a consultation with the workforce under Art. 335d and the following articles of the Swiss Code of Obligations, and a social plan under Art. 335i, the package of measures an employer negotiates with the workforce to cushion the effect of the redundancies. That second duty applies to organisations with at least 250 employees that dismiss at least 30 people within 30 days. Outplacement is one of the measures companies commonly put into such a plan.

Our employee is a foreign national. What do we need to think about?

Residence permits are tied to employment, so the end of a contract can affect the right to stay, and cantonal practice varies. We raise the question early and bring in immigration specialists where the case calls for it. The coaching runs in English or German, and we prepare the person for the conventions of a Swiss application, which are new to most people who have built their career abroad.

Do you guarantee a new job?

No. We prepare the person thoroughly and stay alongside them through the whole search. Our consultants recruit every day, so the person learns how a Swiss recruiter reads an application and what carries weight in an interview. The person sends every application themselves, and the outcome depends on them and on the market.
